On July 12th, Canada held another Express Entry draw, inviting 3,800 candidates in a French language category-based selection. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 375.
Recent Express Entry Draws Overview:
July 11th:
IRCC invited 800 candidates in an all-program draw.
Minimum CRS score needed was 505, higher than the previous week's category-based invitations but lower than the July 4th draw's requirement of 511.
July 4th - 7th:
IRCC conducted draws for four consecutive days.
July 4th: An unexpected all-program draw invited 700 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 511, the highest for any all-program draw in 2023.

July 6th: 1,500 healthcare professionals received category-based selection invitations with a cut-off CRS score of 463.
July 7th: 2,300 candidates with strong French-speaking abilities received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) with a minimum CRS score of 439.
June 27th - 28th:
On June 27th, 4,300 candidates were invited in an all-program draw with a minimum CRS score of 486.
On June 28th, 500 candidates with work experience in healthcare occupations and a minimum CRS score of 476 received the first-ever ITAs for category-based selection.
Category-Based Selection:
Canada's immigration minister, Sean Fraser, announced the finalization of categories for category-based selection on May 31st.
Categories were established after the royal assent of Bill C-19 in Canada's parliament, allowing the immigration minister to invite economic immigration candidates based on specific attributes like language or work experience, instead of relying solely on the CRS score.
Categories include Healthcare, STEM professions, Trades, Transport, Agriculture and Agri-food, and Strong French-language proficiency.
Candidates selected under these categories must still be eligible for an Express Entry program, and having a high CRS score remains advantageous as candidates will be ranked against one another.
Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025:
According to the Immigration Levels Plan, IRCC aims to admit 82,880 new permanent residents to Canada through Express Entry by the end of 2023.
The plan increases to 109,020 in 2024 and 114,000 by 2025.
The new Express Entry categories will play a vital role in achieving these targets while strengthening Canada's workforce.
