After receiving the ITA (Invitation To Apply), the applicant must provide written proof of the money that he has to survive in the initial months in Canada and acquire sufficient funds for settlement of him and his family dependents in Canada. This money must not be borrowed as this will used to pay living costs of applicant and his dependents. This is not necessary if the applicant has a valid job offer or is authorized to work in Canada already. The below table shows the minimum amount needed for application in 2018:

Proof of Funds
The funds shown in the application must be readily available for the applicant at anytime during the process and after receiving the Permanent Resident Visa as well. The money maintained must be supported by official letters from financial institutions in the home country. Letters must be:
- be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
- include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
- include your name
- list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
- include, for each current bank and investment account: account numbers, the date each account was opened, the current balance of each account and the average balance for the past six months

Declaring Funds
If the applicant is all set to move into Canada, there are no limitations to funds carried. However, it is important to declare funds if more than $10000 Canadian Dollars as per Canadian Custom Regulations. This may include cash, stocks, bonds, bank drafts, travellers cheques, cheques, money orders etc. provided in the favor of the applicant.
Express Entry System: Ponits & Requirement
People who decide to move to Canada through their work experience and skills are known as Federal Skilled Workers and post Jan 2015 the applications are processed through the Express Entry System. The primary purpose of this program is to welcome skilled professionals who can effectively contribute to the Canada’s thriving economy.
Express Entry Minimum Requirements
- At least one year of paid, continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled profession, approximately 30 hours a week.
- This occupation must be a listed in the 2016 version of National Occupational Classification(NOC) of Canada skill types: Skill Type 0, Level A or Skill Level B.
- The applicant must possess the work experience in the last ten years before submitting the electronic application.
- The applicant must meet minimum language requirements from language testing organizations designated by IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
- A minimum language threshold score CLB7-Canadian Language Benchmark must be met or exceeded from the testing organizations
- The applicant must submit educational credentials from a Canadian institution or foreign institution along with educational credential assessment from a designated agency.
- This agency would evaluate the applicant’s overseas masters, diploma, degree or certificates are valid and match the Canadian standards of education; one such agency is WES (World Education Services based in Toronto, ON).
Express Entry Points System
For Federal Skilled Worker applicants need to obtain a minimum of 67 points in the selection criteria of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Selection criteria as listed below:
- Education: Applicants can acquire maximum of 25 points for their educational credentials.
- Age: Up to 12 Points are awarded for the age of the applicant during the application submission
- Work Experience: A minimum of 9 points are required to qualify; applicants are eligible up to 15 points based on paid skilled experience in the last 10 years
- Language Skills: Up to 28 points may be gathered i.e. For English as first official language -24 points and 4 points if second official language
- Arranged Employment in Canada: If the applicant has secured Canadian offer he is eligible for 10 additional points matching certain requirements
- Adaptability: Applicants are awarded a maximum 10 points based on their adaptability as determined by IRCC
