Sean Fraser is Canada’s new Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship.
Canada appoints Sean Fraser as immigration minister in the Trudeau cabinet. Since 2015, Sean Fraser has served as Nova Scotia's Member of Parliament.
Fraser, a 37-year-old lawyer, is Nova Scotia's lone representative in the federal cabinet. During his Master's program in The Hague in the Netherlands, Sean studied under a Judge of the International Court of Justice and a former Secretary-General of NATO. Before entering politics, Sean enjoyed a successful legal practice with one of Canada's top-ranked law firms. During his time in Johannesburg, South Africa, he also worked as a human rights lawyer for marginalized groups and individuals.
A long-term volunteer, he served as the Vice-President of a local United Nations Association of Canada branch, served as a Research Fellow with the Center for International Sustainable Development Law, and provided pro bono legal services to the Boys and Girls Club and underprivileged members of the community.
