Federal Skilled Worker Program (Express Entry): Six selection factors

To immigrate to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker through Express Entry, you need to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 on six selection factors:

  • Language Skills (max 28 points) - You need CLB 7 in English or French in all 4 skills. Higher scores get more points.

  • Education (max 25 points) - You need a Canadian high school diploma or post-secondary credential, or a foreign credential assessed as equivalent by an approved organization. More education gets more points.

  • Work Experience (max 15 points) - You get points for years of skilled work experience in NOC 0, A, B jobs. More experience gets more points.

  • Age (max 12 points) - Younger applicants get more points.

  • Arranged Employment (max 10 points) - You get points if you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.

  • Adaptability (max 10 points) - You get points if your spouse/partner has CLB 4 in English/French, past study/work in Canada, or other connections to Canada.

To maximize your points:

  • Improve your English/French skills
  • Get your foreign education assessed
  • Find a job offer in Canada
  • Bring a spouse/partner with English/French skills or Canadian education/work experience

Scoring high on these factors helps show you can integrate well and contribute to the Canadian economy. Focus on your language skills, education, work experience and connections to Canada.
