NAFTA

North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA) is the trading agreement between Canada, US and Mexico. An American or Mexican businessman looking for the opportunity in Canada is qualified for consideration under the terms of the NAFTA.

NAFTA allows a business person with the temporary entry in Canada who are citizens of the U.S. or Mexico and who are involved in investment activities or trade of goods or services. Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is not required with NAFTA for any business persons under this agreement. Also, a work permit is not required in the case of business visa. Moreover, professionals who are intended to work in Quebec province do not require the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ).

Qualifying persons have to apply for a NAFTA Professional work permit at a Canadian visa office prior to arriving in Canada. Also, an applicant must have all required documents handy when applying at a Canadian border.  U.S. and Mexico offer the equivalent professional work permits through their application requirements may slightly differ for Canadians who want to work temporarily over there.
